Jim has been called "The Rebel With a Cause". He's actually a rebel with many causes. Over the years, he has protested issues from deregulation of the broadcast industry to the government's spraying paraquat on marijuana crops. When he asked listeners to call the White House to complain, it crashed their phone lines. But perhaps Jim's best-known passion is music. He began his career in the early days of free-form radio and has always insisted on choosing his own music. His song sets tell a story — anything from fast cars to his feelings about a social issue. One of  the only deejays with that freedom, Tom Petty wrote "The Last DJ" about Jim.  After leaving KLOS-FM In 2011, Jim can now be heard on Sirus/XM Satellite Radio.
